Prosper is an ex-Rasta lost in London, trying to make sense of his dog-filled dreams. Madame Talate remembers her island as a paradise and Teddy Hibbert loves turtles but has trouble remembering people. Their stories collide in a dream turned nightmare of one Stu Barber.
In the late 1960s the Chagos islanders were evicted from their Indian Ocean home to make way for a US military base. Set against the actual events of their displacement and fight for justice, A Few Man Fridays, begins in the age of Cold War secrets and ends in the era of global warming.
Cardboard Citizens stages this compelling story in its trademark style where personal testimony and historical narrative meet to forge epic, mesmerising theatre, fusing music, video, and YouTube footage.
Moving, gripping and funny, A Few Man Fridays unearths an inglorious episode of British history, and explores the fantasies of the powerful, set against the dreams of the powerless.

- The Counsellor, Irene Fricke, Congressman Winn: Johanna AllittMy grandma was one of the legendary landladies of Blackpool (where I was born) hence a love of fish and chips, camp lighting and the sea. I’ve performed in two recent productions for Cardboard Citizens: Or Am I Alone? (UK Tour/Toynbee Studios), Led Easy (UK/Austria tour/Toynbee Studios). I was a Space Vixen for many years in Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, and I also devised and directed the original Fringe First production (the Albany, Deptford; Assembly Rooms and the Pleasance, Edinburgh; Queen’s Theatre, West End; the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton; Hackney Empire). I also sing and teach, my other credits include Cherry Pie (film); Scrub Up (Queen Mary Studio) Live Art Development Agency); For Sale, Death of a Salesman (Yellow People’s Theatre, Young Vic); Cold Moon Rising (Jermyn Street Theatre).

Rehabilitation back into the world of mixed sex companies has followed, including: Arcadia (Lowry Centre), All My Sons (Leicester) and The Quick (Tristan Bates Theatre) and on TV: Eastenders, Doctors and The Royal.
- Madame Talate, Belinda Green, Commander Gary Sick, Lynne Sands, Peter: Sharon Duncan-BrewsterMy first real experience of the acting world was gifted to me at age of six from The Anna Scher Children's Theatre. My sincerest gratitude goes out to Anna, without her I really would not be here. My most recent TV performance was as Lisa, in Channel Four's highly acclaimed drama 'Top Boy'. Last year I also appeared in 'Tiger Country' (Hampstead Theatre), 'The Swan' (National Theatre) and 'Yerma' (Gate Theatre). I LOVE popcorn but lets not get into salt or sweet, I don't want to get pigeon-holed.
- Pere Dussercle, the Teacher of Kreol, Marie Therese Mein, Benoit Renoir: Josian FauzouI joined the Henri Favory Theatre Company in Mauritius in 1989, the same year I qualified as a nurse. After performing with the Company for ten years, I worked with French puppeteer Alexandra Shiva Melis and performed with the Castaway Community Theatre of Aberysthwyth. I wrote and performed a one-man show, You Know What I Mean at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2010. People often ask me 'Why Aberystwyth?' It's because when I look at the sea, I know that somewhere over the horizon is my homeland 'akot mo lonbri antere' ('where my umbilical cord is buried') - an old Kreol saying - and I feel close to it.

Moulinie, Rolf Fricke, George T Churchill: Tom HodgkinsHaving come into acting from a Masters Degree in Industrial Robotics, my career in theatre has ranged for a long stint at the RSC including The Histories to the National Theatre and Broadway with Guys and Dolls and Not About Nightingales by Tennessee Williams via the David Glass Ensemble (Mosquito Coast) and Headlong (Decade). I also narrate documentaries and audio books, not to mention the odd film (the last was Hanna - dir Jon Wright) and TV (the last was Hustle).
- Prosper: Ansu KabiaI've been acting in the business for over six years now having spent time at drama school despite the fact that I did maths and physics at A-level. I've appeared in numerous plays in a number of theatres including The Library Theatre Manchester, the Arcola Theatre, Upstairs at the Gatehouse and Harlow Playhouse. I have worked with the NITRO theatre company and I recently completed three years with the RSC. Outside of all that I absolutely love to cycle.

On TV amongst others Trial and Retribution, Spooks, Getting Out Alive!, The Fades and Outnumbered, and on Radio the prize winning Letters from Guantanamo. I am happy to return to the Citz in a cherry picked narrative unravelling some more delightful home truths. Throughout the day I freefall – a passenger to the whims of Gene and Pina
